- Mares
The Oldenburg Horse Breeders' Society follows the very strict standards for breeding approval of mares established by the Oldenburg Verband in Germany. The goal of the Verband/Society is to breed top horses for sport, and the mare base is a critical factor. Please click on the "Approval - Rule Book" link below to learn more about the Inspection process, Mare Books, Mare Performance Tests, and Status Achievement. We also encourage you to contact the Verband if you have any questions concerning your mare and/or breeding plans for her. The North American director, Holly Simensen, or the Deputy Breeding Director of the Verband in Germany, Katrin Burger, are both happy to assist you. Photo left is of the recipient of the 2010 Graf Anton Günther von Oldenburg Award for being the Champion mare of the 2010 North American Inspection Season, Biscaya. She was bred by Claus Hueppe, and is owned by Nancy Holowesko of Crosiadore Farm. This marks the third year in a row that Crosiadore Farm has won this prestigious honor.
